Shu Uemura collection: Holiday by Wong Kar Wai
Posted by gurlosophy under beauty | Tags: holiday by wong kar wai, manicure, nails, shu uemura |Leave a Comment

For this Christmas, decided to have manicure inspired by Shu Uemura collection: Holiday by Wong Kai Wai.

My selection of colours (left to right):
China Glaze – Shower Together
China Glaze – Blue Year’s Eve
Milani – Silver (from the Jewel FX series)
China Glaze – Snow Globe

I painted 1 coat of Shower Together after base coat, then 1 coat of Blue Year’s Eve. Finished off with some Snow Globe, and spread the silver sparkles evenly on the tip of your nails. I did my ring finger with more silver sparkles, be generous with it! Top coat them & you’re good to go!
Have fun! Happy holidays!

Apple Cinnamon Wrap

Hi all! It has been a long while since I updated my blog! :p I shall begin my 2011 entry with this awesome, easy & yummy recipe – The Apple Cinnamon Wrap!

Firstly, remove the core of the apple & cut into cubes. Season it with cinnamon & sugar, mix well.

Wrap the apple cubes up in spring roll skin, in shape of an envelope.

Pan-fry them, turn over when it’s slightly golden brown.

Done! Put a paper towel to soak up the oil but I’ve ran out of paper towel so used a strainer instead.
Sprinkle icing sugar if you like them to be sweeter
Hope you like the recipe & enjoy making this as much as I do! Till next time.. Gurlosophy xx

Last Friday at Hotel Intercontinental, the Young Guns attended the very first wedding in the group!

Congrats Andy & Agnes!

Never thank us on stage :/ Haha!

Young Guns who attended the wedding affair, missing Uncle Ken & SJ.

Our tradition pyramid picture with Damon & Chunyen is the same position!
Tried sabotaging the newlyweds. I totally didn’t expect Agnes to be more ‘hiong’ than me lor! I was utterly shocked! Haha.

Love Miss Glitzy’s outfit! Love love the top!

And we goofed around in the toilet after dinner :p

My getup for that night! Yellow dress from Zara, bought it during the last Zara sale

Tried blending brown & gold makeup for the first time, am happy with the look
Next up in Young Guns, Chunyen’s wedding in January
Oh no, there is also SJ’s leaving do this Sunday! Our scholar got posted to Hong Kong!

My virgin experience.

Apologies for not taking a ‘before’ picture, totally forgot about it!

So, here’s an ‘after’ picture
I was comtemplating for the longest time ever. Also, when it was first introduced, I find the prices are rather steep. What’s the point of doing it when you have mascara or even, fake lashes? So, I found out recently that the prices are so much cheaper even when you don’t commit to any packages, decided to drop by Far East Plaza yesterday evening for a mini-revamp :p It was also an excuse for me to look good on Friday for Andy’s wedding! Hiaks! Love, love my new lashes! It takes a little while of getting used to though.
The place I went to had a range of pricing for different effects – $30 for minimal extension which the lady said will only last 1-2 weeks, $50 for dense looking lashes which can last up to 2 months and $60 for a more natural look.
Guess which one did I choose?
This morning’s makeup was a breeze. I had my brows drawn, slapped on blusher and a little concealer and I was ready to go! All in 3 minutes!

Pardon my terrible eyebags! I had only 4 hours of sleep :/
Will do a review again if the lashes truely gonna last me for 2 months (with proper care, of course)! Also, every 5 eyelash extension, you get 1 free!

Gurlosophy’s Risotto recipe!
Posted by gurlosophy under food | Tags: recipes, risotto |[4] Comments
Ingredients needed for Risotto:

Prepare a pot of stock (enough to cook the rice) just before you start preparing the ingredients. You can use any stock of your choice, for this, I used chicken stock.
Firstly, sauteed the mushroom with some garlic, butter, olive oil and garlic salt.

Next, scoop the mushrooms up, using the same wok, add in rice, some stock and butter.

At low fire, keep stirring the rice and don’t let it stick to wok. Constantly adding stock when the rice is drying up. When the rice is slightly plump, add in milk & heavy cream. I used low-fat milk instead of full cream, and a substantial amount of heavy cream. Not too much, cause you don’t wanna feel damn gelat after eating!

When you think the rice is almost ready, add in the mushrooms, salmon and bacon. Season to taste.

Gurlosophy’s Risotto! Yummy yummy yum!

It’s not that difficult to make. Takes about 30minutes or less to cook and about 15minutes to prepare everything!

Makan at Dunlop Street!

Together with GeeJay & Green, we Little India-ed on Sunday.

From their new apartment at City Square Residence, we walked to Dunlop Street for what they claimed, good & yummy food! Better be good, cause we had to walk, in my opinion, quite a distance and also, Little INDIA on a SUNDAY, lots of ermmm.. Haha!
I had wanted to eat Fish Head Curry so badly, but they are from UK, they never like seeing the head of a fish! According to GeeJay, the place offers Western & Indian food.. so, I didn’t mind checking out!
Dunlop Street, all I remembered about that street was 3-4 years ago, my quest to Little India to hunt the backpackers hostel & pub – Prince of Wales. Along that street, you find a reasonable amount of backpackers. But honestly, if I were a backpacker, give me Khao San, Thailand anytime! That place is definitely more happening than Singapore any day. And of course, things are relatively much cheaper!
Anyhow, we went to The Countryside Cafe that’s on 71 Dunlop Street.
I was still feeling intoxicated from the night’s drinking, if not, I would have ordered my favourite yellow liquid – beer! If I’m didn’t remember wrongly, its $19 for 2 pints of Erdinger/Konig Ludwig. And, there’s no service charge!

The different currencies that are pasted on the wall!

The feel is quite cosy on the other side of the wall.. its just a small cafe, with probably 5-6 tables indoor, and 3 tables outdoor.
Introducing my 2 partner-in-crimes..

Green.

GeeJay.

Both gave me hilarious stares when I added salt into my Coke! I love the cup by the way!
They have several choices for soup, so I asked the server for the best and he recommended Cream of Mushroom.

I think the soup so-so only, it tasted like Campbell’s..
Green’s main..

The hamburger! I didn’t have a bite of it, but the way he ate it, looked yummy or probably he was way too hungry :p
GeeJay & I both ordered the Sirloin Steak. So much for wanting the Fish Head Curry, they had fish curry, but I was tempted by the steak!

I wouldn’t give A for it, but the steak was definitely better than some restaurants and was cooked to what I asked for – medium rare.

My birthday gonna be a blast!
Posted by gurlosophy under gurlosophy, holiday, party | Tags: MTV Asia, MTV World Stage, Sunway Lagoon |[3] Comments
I actually bought tickets to Bangkok with the ex. I guess, I shouldn’t be going now..
Anyhoos, darling Bel gotten me tickets to MTV World Stage at Sunway Lagoon!

The line-up for the gig isn’t all that fantastic.. But the company definitely rocks! Jing, Bel are going with me and hopefully Toke is able to get his flight tickets tonight! Really looking forward to chill/tan at Sunway Lagoon as well, basically have a great time! Moreover, I’ve never been to that place!
Accomodation was supposedly at Bel’s company’s apartment, but venue was a tad too far off from Sunway Lagoon. The rates at Sunway isn’t that expensive – so 1 room, 4 of us, that’s enough loving to each other
Till then, we will be back on Monday night
Hurray!
